..my friend [livejournal.com profile] enigel has recently moved to London from Bucharest, and is searching for a shared flat. I can personally vow for her, I have been staying with her in Bucharest at her place, and she is a wonderful person :). So if you know somebody who is looking for a flatmate within commuting distance of Shoreditch - 40-45 minutes being a reasonable commute time. Somewhere on the Northern line would be great, or on a bus route and near-ish a bus station. More info in her entry here: http://enigel.livejournal.com/490927.html where you can contact her directly.
Thanks to everybody who can help :)

Travelling in Germany is sure something different. Trains run on time, reservations actually work out.. etc etc. Only the promised Wi-Fi in the hotel doesn't work, and I can't find the PIN code for my internet dongle, but I have my dear smartphone and vlingo so yeah. (vlingo is the voice recognition software on my phone. Dictating sure is easier than writing on a touchpad :D).

Anyway. Arrived at my hotel, left my luggage and then wandered around a bit in the small village near Frankfurt where I am staying, in search of something to eat. Ended up at some kind of fair and munched curry sausage and fries. followed by chocolate popcorn. good bye diet, who are you.

Tomorrow morning I have to walk a few miles to the place where my workshop takes place. hopefully it won't rain too hard.

Did I mention that we bought the new car in the end? picture is on FB. It arrives on Thursday. half of it is bought on debt, which I hate. but we needed it, so yeah.

ok, sleepies now. Hugs & kisses to everybody :D

..as [livejournal.com profile] poliphilo wrote.
They, being those who are trying again (http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,2063952,00.html ) to force LJ to its knees, so those who oppose the corrupt Russian government will not have a platform any more to exchange information and free opinions. Well, NOT. This is the moment to support democracy and freedom, to follow blogs like this one: http://navalny.livejournal.com/ (google translator does a good enough job to understand what he is writing) and comment, telling them that we care, that those who think killing LJ they would kill free speech should think again, because that act itself of trying to obscure the site has gained the opposition much more attention all around the world than any blog entry on LJ could.

They are getting organized on G+ and Facebook too now, and this is a good thing, so DDOS-bombing just one site won´t have much sense any more.. and Google certainly is better equipped to handle these attacks.
Just don´t flee LJ now, they need us, back up your journals on DW or wherever, regularly, but continue to post here, and to support the communities. I have had a paid account from the beginning, and will continue to do so, for sure. This site has given me so much, and it is time to give something back.

This is a war, fought on a virtual terrain but for a very real scope: winning an election with corruption and threat. Let´s not look to the other side but behave like the free democratic people we all are proud and lucky to be!!

okay so I just installed a new program on my smart phone which allows me to write just dictating to my phone . This is totally awesome . I think I will never again write with my fingers... Absolutely fantastic. Wow.

Tomorrow I have been here for 8 years! And still going strong :D
As I said to Dan right now: I think this journal has a big part in me not having gone completely crazy yet :)

The journal, and obviously, you, my LJ-friends.

Thank you for being here always when I need you.

And cheers, to the next 8 years :)

We got a redtail nisting on our garden shed! It chose the old cuccoo clock hanging there to lay its egs and is now breeding there, not leaving the nest even when you get really close.
The place has been made as cat-safe as possible (taking away seats and benches which would have allowed easy access to the clock. Let´s hope that is enough, otherwise we´ll have to keep watch turns with water pistols when the little ones start to get out of their eggs and attract unwanted attention with their chirping and tweeting :D

I so love my new camera. I can take pictures from the front without flash with it, so I don´t scare our little friend!

How shall we call her, btw??

I am still learning, there are so many functions. But I am already in awe how wonderful the fur looks with this.. and that I am able to photograph Blanche´s eyes!!

you know you want to :D )

Haha that is nice. Now I´ll just have to learn how to post only single pictures, instead of the whole bulk :D. These pictures are still from my cell phone camera, Rossini has occupied the new one so I can´t get him with that. Vain little shit, he probably thinks he looks better at a lower resolution :D

That was really convenient for my right lane centered scatterbrain. I totally was nearly killed in Dublin a few times some years ago bc of looking the wrong side before crossing. I wish every street in GB had these.

In other news, I nearly missed my plane this morning. Had put my alarm at 5 which would have given me comfortable time to prepare myself, have bfast and arrive at the airport in time to have a leisurly coffee and maybe some shopping.
Well, that was not to be. When I opened my eyes it was 6.24. No idea if the clock never ever rang or if I didn't hear it. first time in my life to happen, seriously. Usually I have an inner clock which wakes me automatically and the alarm is just for my inner peace. I blame the yummy glutenfree beer I endulged in yesterday evening..
Major panic ensued, I knew there was still one train with which I could possibly make it if everything went well. In 20 minutes. Cue the dadi splashing her face with water, stuffing everything in her bag, getting dressed with the fortunately prepared clothes and running to the station where I caught my train on the fly. I was lucky, no delays, no big queues at baggage control, and I made it to the gate dizzy as help but on time. Whoa.

Flight was uneventful, and now I'm on my train home :)

I don't feel stressed, fortunately, because tomorrow I'll have to drive for 6 hrs by car to a cousin's wedding w/my mom. Uh.

It has been wonderful to stay with < Lj user = "idahoswede ">, Ray, Ruby and. obvously Geraldine :D. Can't wait to see the 2 humans in Germany in 4 weeks!

The meetings have been a success, there is much interesting stuff coming up work wise, yay. Life rocks!

..and pictures there are, even if Scrapbook is being a true PITA all the time. I really miss the times of Windows XP when I could upload whole folders of pictures without problems, instead of one at a time!

some impressions from Damascus, there are many more, to follow when I have time.. )
pentacle
Very tired, but enthusiastic about all the wonderful things I have seen. Damascus is an incredible city, I took lots of pictures, no idea when I will be able to post. Today I saw two monasteries from aramaic times. Impressive! Now we are in Homs, a very wealthy and businesslike city in the center of Syria.
No whatsoever climate of tension perceptible here, people watch the news about Egypt but similar to how we in Europe watch them.. worried in general, but not really concerned or involved for themselves. No upheavals for sure here, everybody says that.
Tomorrow, I have to hold my 8-hour seminar, then on Tuesday it is back to Damascus, and Tuesday night flying back to Munich, with a 2 hour stopover at 4 am in Istanbul.. fun.
I miss Facebook, it is closed here (not because of the upheavals, it has never been available).
Anybody noticed if these LJ entries which I am posting publicly do arrive also on Facebook? I have no idea if the settings work. I receive LJ comments, but no FB comments.

Ok, need to sleep now, it is already much to late. See you soon, Insh´allah!x

Everything ok, Syria is beautiful, Weather is halfway decent. Facebook cannot be accessed here, alas. Expect major picture spam.
